You don't need the other 13. You just needed ~100Mb of the first cd.
Then used apt-get for whatever you needed.
If I had downloaded 14 cd's, then I would have 13 coasters (I'm on a
fast connection.)
Suggestion: Read up before doing something. It'll help your customers
if you know.

i use the proxy addr of my schools' to access our libraries.
and sometimes, i use another isp to get online, in which case, my
mozilla-mail smtp settings dont seem to help.
is there a way to use the smtp addr of my school when im on another isp

im running debian unstable on 2.6.0
i did an apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, and then
an 'apt-get dist-upgrade', but i get a recurring
error, when it comes to
upgrading/installing libxft2-dev at dist-upgrade. the exact error message

Hi, how do we load modules at boot-time on debian? when i look at
modules.conf, it says that I shouldnt edit it, and to use modconf and
look at update-modules.
also there are some files in /etc/modutils and is this where I should

After startx, all the console terms from F1..6 are just blank (well, a
nice glow is there at the bottom, but blank nonetheless).

I have alsa built in as a module and have it loading along with the
other modules (thanks to Roberto). i have aumix installed too. so i
login, adjust my alsamixer, and do a alsactl store. but it goes back
to the default min level when i reboot. i read we have to store while
