The debian driver by default is nv not nvidia ulles you 've downloaded
and installed from nvidia.com
I think that this driver does not support 24 bpp
I think you should put 16 bpp in your XF86config file
Ross
when you log klike a root tri chmod-ing your file so it isn't read only
and edit it your self

Go where your modules are (you will see where they are from your error
messages) and remove them from there
You have probably compilled another kernel before and they are left there
Ross
there is a program that could do that and it it called vnc
you can connect from linux box to win and the other way with no problems:
Check http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc. for more deatils

Hello!I was wondering if it is possible to connect from Win95 with ssh to anLinux box and recieve
if you type apt-get dist-upgrade
it will take these packeges and install them

Well I have the same card
you can download the latest drivers from nvidia.com
and ran xf86cfg -textmode (it crashes if not in textmode)
and then set your own parameters for the monitor and the card
I think that X does not support 24 bpp for nvidia so you should set the
default color to be 16bpp
I just what I thougth I shoul have done a long time ago :
type in the lilo.conf
boot=/dev/hda
...and that solved the problem
thanks to all who answered me
Ross
well infact as I read what you have said to me I think I got the problem
In fact I use the Lilo to boot NT (I have no problems with that)
and I think that my mbr is in /dev/hda not /dev/hda7 so I should say in
lilo.conf that boot=/dev/hda is it right or not?
The earlier version of kernel has no
yes it does have the endline it's just the way put it in the mail

I have upgraded my box to kernel 2.2.18 and I'm using lilo from unstable
this is how my lilo.conf looks like:
boot=/dev/hda7root=/dev/hda7install=/boot/boot-menu.bdelay=20map=/boot/system.mapappend="mem=128Mb"vga=extendedread-onlyimage=/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.18 label=lastimage=/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.17
I think you should promptly type where exactly are the two versions of the browsers
I had the same problem but when I put two shortcuts with the exact path to th browsers I had no problems
