Is it possible to upgrade Hamm 2.0 to Slink 2.1 or Hamm 2.1 (when
available) with apt-get?
The reason I ask is that several packages in Slink are new/splitted up
like xserver-common. Because these packages were not present in Hamm 2.0,
will apt-get take these new .deb files also in account?

I've downloaded yesterday from an Debbian mirror in the US a 2.2.0-pre1
kernel for Debian in .deb format. I've installed the kernel with dpkg to
give it a try.
The system booted up, but I've received a number of errors.

Is it possible to use Apt for files from the binary-all tree from Slink?
The binary-all does not contain a Packages.gz file...
Regards, Ruud.
Can I use apt-get also for retrieving files via ftp from binary-all
directories? I would like to pick up the latest gsfonts and gsfonts-other.
But because Packages.gz is missing from binary-all I guess, I am a
littlebit lost.

I noticed the slink distribution contains an older release of Python than
the stable distribution has. Furthermore:
Python-examples is dependent of Python-base 1.5.1-3.1
Python-base is version 1.5.1-3
Could this be the reason why Python canot be installed from slink? I would
expect slink would c

I am having problems with running Quake2 (v 3.14) under Debian. Quake2
running under X-Windows runs fine, but the version running under SVGALIB
segfaults. I am running a MACH 64 video card. Haven't changed anything to
the standard Hamm setup, except installed the netscape wrapper.
Anyone a idea?
Are there any "ready-to-use" ICQ programs available in .deb format? I
would rather use a ICQ clone (w/o the use of Java) because ICQ from
Mirabilis takes a lot of resources.

I want to issue a "clearscreen" in or after a logout command so that the

Are there any problems known with the Mach64 driver? I am getting

When running "gs" as user, I receive the following error message:

How can I solve this?

How do I install a printer under Debian 2.0? I have an Epson Stylus COLOR

I am a little further with Quake 2 on Debian 2.0, but I get the following
