Is the HDD attached to the ATA100 controller? If so you need a kernel
w/ Promise IDE support. 2.4.0 supports it and I think patches exist
too.
I also remember seeing some parameters you could pass to LILO to get it
to work, but I don't think it would do ATA100.

can't hear anything from the speakers after the disk is playing,
but can here it through the CD drives earphone jack then check the
volume (Usually called CD) with a mixer (aumix, xmixer, kmixer, etc).
