'PureFTPd' be a further option to this question? I have just heard of it, I
haven't installed any of them yet.

Ha! *big-grin* I got it...
Just looking around in Webmin to find the Samba config and - zak - I fo
others, but it just didn't work.
So what libraries do I have to install (I guess I already have them all) and
what's the correct value for $DISPLAY ?
And a question just of interest: Is there something like a global clipboard
in Linux as we know it from Windows? I mean not only per applicat

(and as I have the time for that), but installing Windows - it works. Some
minor optimizations here and there, and I'm happy with it. (Plus do many of

KDE/Gnome had the latest state-of-the-art features some time before you
could find them in Windows (especially Win 95 and NT4 were rather - let's
say spartanic). I'm sure you'll get the same slowdowns with Win2000 or XP as
with KDE or Gnome.

I'd almost call it my no. 1b favourite :) But there are still massive
problems with threaded view, which I mostly need when reading mailing lists
like this. (OK, early pre-release...)
But let's not get too OT here... (or is this an interesting topic for
work with efficiently, and it should not be
too ugly to look at.) Maybe I'll find the time and skill, some time, to take a closer
look at the Mozilla Mail source code.

Hi list,
can anyone explain the difference between dpkg (dpkg-deb, dselect...) and APT
(apt-get...) to me?
What is considered the better one of both?
The APT manpage says, APT is still in development, but why create another debian
packager, if there's already one?

i'm learning exim right now. i'm going to use this as MTA along with courier-imap for

from what i know, exim should be able to handle all the things you mentioned (except
that filter setup from within a MUA). but you wouldn't have to mess around with a
shell account. i've heard of sieve as
