initrd kernel uplevel problem

2003-09-27 Thread Antony Gelberg
Hi all, I load the ft3xx module in my startup initrd, to enable me to continue booting from my Promise Fasttrak 376 SATA RAID controller. This worked great with the bf24 install, which created an initrd in /boot/initrd.debinstall, which I have used with every subequent kernel that I've compiled.

Upgrading from stable

2003-10-02 Thread Antony Gelberg
Hi all, I think I'm ready to upgrade my main desktop machine from stable. I've been running stable (with an XF4.3 backport) for months now with no problems. Only thing is, I'm starting to run into too many packages where I do need new features and fixes. I'm tempted to go straight to unstable -

Hi all, Just completed the move to unstable and it's looking amazing so far. This was _definitely_ a good idea. There is one minor issue with the Gnome default WM. I removed sawfish and installed metacity. However: brain:/home/antgel# update-alternatives --config x-window-manager There are 0
