Well, to make a long story short. I am going to switch ISP. There may
have other reasons why some folks need two or more different ISP, may be
one of them is for work etc.

This problem goes away, after I reboot the system, i.e shutdown now -r
But this time I have the follow error message when I run pppd:
Sorry - this system lacks PPP kernel support
I can run PPP in 1.1, before I upgrade to 1.2. May be I need to recompile
the kernel again to include PPP support
I upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2. After the upgrade I have the follow error
message when I try to run pppd:
pppd: can't load dynamic linker '/lib/ld.so nor
/usr/i486-debian-linux/lib/ld.so'
I also have the same message, when I run other programmes such as fortune.
How to fix it?

though. Do one really need the gs man pages? If so, how to install one?

Well, you are not alone. I also have this problem, when I recompiled
this kernel the first time. What you could do is: not select PPP when you
are in make config. Then just follow the steps to finish the 'roll your own
kernel': make dep; make clean; make zImage. You should not have any
Hi,
I installed the 0.93R6, and followed the script that was posted here, to
upgrade to 1.1 base system. That was all fine. I used dselect and dpkg-ftp
along the way.
Then I joyfully upgraded the rest of the system. I upgraded the X11 from
the unstable tree, after I fetched all the packages
