about this is that it allows to set up easily the port table

Hello Lisi,
I am not sure about your question.
But I guess that part of the answer holds in what is meant by space:
' ' or '\t'
In `/etc/services', '\t' is used but not ' ': try
cat -A /etc/services
to see that.
Given that,
cat /etc/services
gives an aligned port/protocol column.

I have many computers running lenny with no problems at all. All devices
are properly detected and configured.
Note that Squeeze is frozen: it is near to get stable.
What I mean is that you may want to wait for Squeeze.

will checked.
If an entry exist for your USB dev in /etc/fstab , for example
/dev/card/media/card vfat
users,uid=65534,gid=6,umask=007,noauto 0 0
then your USB stuff will be mounted accordingly.
You may want to write with udev rule to identify your USB.
Jerome
directly:
udev can set up default privilegies and default ownership:
I can only guide you here, because udev is evolving:
the set up for Lenny and for Squeeze are not the same.
(I have to update my obsoleted Lenny udev files on my Squeeze boxes).
Google may help you further.
