I just ran "apt-get upgrade" with testing and samba was upgraded to V3,
since then i have not been able to get samba working again, no matter
how many times i reinstall it and remove/reconfigure it (inc purging all
related files). I also tried downgrading samba with "apt-get install
samba=2".
try "cdrecord -dev=ATAPI -scanbus" which would give you a list of ATAPI

go to the cups admin page (http://localhost:631) - select "manage
printers" then select your printer, after which go to "configure
printer" and then look at "media size" -- check to make sure it is set
correctly (i.e. A3 not A4) -- thats the only thing i can think of that
would cause cropping
From what i gather you have croatian locale selected but you say that
not all of the interface is translated?
So while things like currency are ok, text based object for example some
buttons/menus are in english but some in croatian?

I have had this problem many times, and it was not due to faulty
hardware but rather a software issue with me (well it was partially
hardware, it would corrupt the database creating the segmentation
fault). There was a way of fixing it, i think you had to delete some
files alas i cannot re
