ELSE DO THE FOLLOWING STEPS

Arrange a live cd debian/ubuntu any live cd.

*Boot from  live cd. Open terminal and run*
$sudo grub
grub> find /boot/grub/stage1
 (hd0,n)

grub>root (hd0,n)
grub>setup (hd0)
grub>quit

$sudo reboot
###here n is the partition no from where you want to recover grub
