Willows TWIN emulation works well for 16-bit programs, doesn't work at all for 32. If you have the source for the MS windows program, even a 32-bit one, you can re-compile the application on Linux with a Willows library so that it is a native X program, that works a lot better than emulation.

For a long time I dream about running windoz on top of linux. I would feel very comfortable runnig ms-office or other windoz programs next to linux programs. (besides, the organisation I work for has standardized on windows (NT4)) Maybe I don't hate windows enough ? To make a long story
