A clarification: I concentrated on linux-wlan-ng-0.1.16-pre8. Tried all the permutations of loading modules and posted a number of questions to the linux-wlan-ng user's list but have only succeeded in making the green light on the Actiontec Wireless USB Adapter turn on as the system is shut down
