Spark chat client no message indication for new message.

I am using Debian 7 with Classic desktop,I have installed spark chat client for destkop support but when any user send me a message it does not indicate the new message arrival,eventually message remain unread, can i do something to resolve this issue Thanks, MYK

hi, When I try to launch ymessenger it gives this error message. Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkfont.c: line 220 (gdk_font_ref): assertion `font != NULL' failed. Segmentation fault I think I am missing a required package but I don't know which. I would really appreciate if somebody tell me this.
