It is a Gnome Panel widget... I myself use USA and Russian Phonetic.
Just create a Keyboard Indicator widget, right click, add whatever
keyset, you want, and then change the key. I know for a fact that you
can use Alt and Shift (although on one of my computers, it is a little
faulty and refuses to

explicitly get in the way - but I don't generally use gnome so I can't
vouch for it...

Did you ever get this problem fixed, because I am having the same
problem since I re-installed debian on my desktop. The gnome volume
control was working fine before on this very same system machine.

You need to actually run a gdesklet. What is running on your system now
is basically just the engine to allow the gdesklet monitors to run.

can't get the gnome keyboard applet to switch to us international (I like to use
accents for other languages sometimes). I see maps for Us and US iso as well as

I just upgraded to gnome 2.6, also X got upgraded. Problem is that
resolution of X changed from 1024x768 to 800x600. Running xf86config
does not seem to help and in desktop preferences / screen resolution in
gnome the 1024x768 resolution is not even listed.
Any ideas??
