OK thanks everybody. The problem was caused by the flashplayer-mozilla maintainer telling me to manually tinker with update-alternatives to fix a one time bug. update-alternatives --auto flash-mozilla.so fixed it, and I switched to a Free Software player too while I was at it. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE,
