Hi folks and a very, very happy new year!

I habe a little issue, that I want to tell about, running debian/testing and
plasma5.

Since several months I am running into an issue with the external mouse and
touchpad. From time to time it apppears that there are some issues with the
mouse.

Either the mouse and touchpad is freezing (and can only be restarted when X is
restarted) , or the mouse is behaving weird. "behaving weired" means, that
when clicking into the menu, the menues are automatically scrolled down. Also
the change of virtual windows does not work (the change is starting, but not
stopping the aimed window number).

As this behaviour also appears in LXDE, I believe it is an issue with the X-
drivers.

Things I checked:

- exchaged external mouse = no difference

- plasma5 has the option, to automatically disable the touchpad when an
external mouse is detected. When activating this option, NEVER an issue with
the external mouse appeared

- When the above option is activated, the touchpad is not working

Is this behaviour known? I could not find any logentries regarding to this,
also I tried to use strace for more information, but got no success. Xorg.log
does not tell, what happens.

These instabilities with the mouse appear now since about 2 years, and appear
more often, when I am running software, which needs a lot of power (like a
flightsim, or a good shooter game whatever).

Maybe someone is knowing more. Oh, and yes, I am using an nvidia-driver
(340xx), and heard rumours about some instability of this.

Thanks for any hints or feedback.

Best regards

Hans
