because left click, wheel click, wheel up, wheel down, and right click

I recently replaced my imps/2 with a ps/2 logitech 4-button wireless
mouseman. I had always had some trouble with the imps/2 -- X couldn't
recognize it at all, but GPM would, so i had to use the -R flag in GPM and
set X up to use /dev/gpmdata and the mousesystems pro

which mouse-type did you choose for gpm? I assume you chose "ps2".

should be able to use it for your mouse. This should work correctly.
