Problem with mouse and X on TI Extensa 575CD laptop

I have tried to install Debian 1.2.4 on a laptop computer. Everything seems to be okay except that I cannot get X and the mouse to work. I have read about similar configurations on Extensa models but none of them uses Debian and non of them uses the exact laptop models. Does anyone know where can
