During my latest system upgrade, there were several errors during the
processing of the 'tetex-bin" package.
Also during this latest upgrade I got a selection among various
hyphenations (or whatever it is called), during tetex-base, and I
selected "nohypb.tex".

This should be a FAQ by now. Make sure your slink TeTeX packages are up
to date (check your local mirror). If you use older packages (off a CD
for example) you'll run into this problem. Something 'expired' after a
year. You can search this list for gory details, but the fix is: install
the latest a
I had this problem also. There is a fixed version in proposed updates. I
compiled from sources and had no problem.
