I had this identical problem today, and was able to solve it by adding an A
record for the server to the default dns suffix domain of the pc's.
I.e. our domain is bollocks.com, and the server is pdc.bollocks.com. The

I've had the same problem in the past.
Are you sure that the Domain SID is the same?
I mean, if WinXP has already joint to one domain (on different machine
for example), the operating system saves a kind of Domain ID called
SID, and it is unique. You can view the SID on samba typing net
getlocalsi
tool - samba
gui - webmin
Works fine.
