was forced to install Sarge with a 2.4 kernel, because the
debian-installer didn't recognize the hard disk booting with a 2.6

I have one SATA Western Digital drive, and 1 PATA Western Digital drive.
I was able to get 2.6.8 installed off the Sarge netinstall to the PATA

confidence in the hardware, when installed with Windows, even the SATA
RAID (ULi M5287) works fine (F6 to load Raid Driver)
