Desktop software is Xfce4 and CUPS from a Debian repository, as is all
software on the box. Printing works for the LibreOffice suite, but not
for Emacs23-lucid, or for plain text files. What do I need to do to
get them configured?
I setup a printer on my windows computer on the local server in my uni lab.
I can connect to it with no problem from all windows computers in the lab. From
my linux based laptop, I set it up with the same parameters (I guess its using
the guest user) but I can't get any response from it.

It is quite involved. The way I did it was set up samba to see the machine
that is sharing the printer. Then I installed

Hi.
Please could you advise me as to how i can go about
setting up Open Office to print to a windows machine with an HP
printer.
The Os is Mandrake, And the Gui is
KDE.
I also have a problem with saving Open
Office files (from with in OO) to floppy (M$ fat) nonexistent object,

Hi,
I tried getting printing set up on a potato system with the

I have the Epson Stylus color 740 that I am using under usb. I don't know how
the "i" model differs.
I got myself printer drivers from www.turboprint.de. Works like a charm. The
pages come out centered and I can adjust the margins. I tried pdq but wasn't
quite satisfied with it. Anyway, that's
I've never configured a printer under Linux. I've got an Epson Sylus
Color 740i hooked up via USB, and I've got it to the point where I can
cat files directly to the device and see them printed.
I'm a bit baffled by the number of choices of packages which are
available, as well as the number of pr
Hello,
If I have an HP LaserJet 4 Plus on an HP print server, that has been
assigned an IP address and raw3,
how do I set up Debian to print to that IP address.
Thanks
Chris
I'd like to set up printing, but I don't have a printer. What I would like to
do, is have things that are printed get sent out to a Postscript file. Under
Windows I could accomplish this by setting up my default printer to an Aple
LaserWriter, and configuring the LaserWriter to print to a postscr
