Setup a network without network

HI, I would like to practice the Apache Setup both at work and at home. At work I have a network but at home I have a standalone PC. How can I setup my linux box to install and execute APache without a network. I've tried it using the dummy adapter and localhost name but I heven't been able.

Oops, I thought I had learned that using -net in combination with a host IP address (not a network address) would cause the network address of that host to be added to the routing table. I experimented, and this is not the case. Guess I'll have to unlearn it. Don't use route add 127.0.0.1, use
