I just got a Sparc 330. In tact, etc, minus a single bad simm. Only
question, is there a Sparc Debian distro? I have Slink, 2.1 CD already.
Is there a way I can boot off this CD when I get a CD-ROM in it so I can
install linux on it?

try make zImage or bzImage or zdisk or bzDisk
i dont know if zdisk or bzdisk (bzDisk?) are valid options but i know
zImage and bzImage is, vmlinuz is not as far as i know.
zImage is used for kernels that can load in the 640kb of memory, bzImage
will load in 'high' memory (above 1MB i believe) for

meatball:/usr/src/linux#make vmunix
make: *** No rule to make target `vmunix'. Stop.
Also
meatball:/usr/src/linux#make vmlinux
make: *** No rule to make target
`/usr/local/src/linux/include/asm/param.h', needed by
`/usr/local/src/linux/include/linux/sched.h'. Stop.

# make vmlinux
# gzip
I am trying to compile a new kernel on a sparc, running debian. I make
menuconfig, make dep, make clean, but after that I don't know what to
do. zImage, bzImage, zlilo, bzlilo do not work. What do I do?

I have a sparc 5 with a 2.1gb drive internal, and a 4 gig external. I'm
fed up with solaris, so I want to try to install debian on it. However,
I have no idea how to partition the drive. This is going to be an imap
server (only for a dozen people) and possibly an AFS server, depending
on how muc
would be nice to be able to partition a disk using Debian instead of some
other external means. Are the sparc debian disks going to be updated
soon? It seems that they are almost a year old.
Sorry about the nagging. I just really want to use Debian, instead of
being forced to use RedHat for Sparcs

Where can I get more info on Debian Sparc? I had a quick look at the
debian.org.au mirror and couldn't spot anything relative in the index.
Also, does this build of debian have its own setup disks like standard
debian? Thanks.

I had to follow the HTML links and stu
Does Debian make a version of Linux (UNiX?) for sparc machines? If so,
what kind of preformance comparison between solaris 2.5 and SunOS?
Thanks.
