for recent kernel (2.2) and X 3.x it's fairly easy, just install debian packages related to 3dfx and that's it. I don't remember all the packages but I remember I had no problems identifying them, just search, you need mesa, probably glide, device3dfx if you want to run 3d accelerated stuff as no
