I installed Samba/swat to set up a quick share, but after swat failed
to make the changes correctly I had to fall back to editing the config
file by hand.
If I create and edit a share using swat, then confirm the changes the
following happens : the web interface displays the sharename correctly,
but matched with share configuration data from another share. Share
configuration changes may or may not be correctly written to smb.conf.
After writing a config change the share dropdown menu in swat only
displays the current share, so it is impossible to switch to any other
share.
I checked the bug reports for the etch swat package but there were no
bugs similar to mine. Thinking it might have been a problem specific to
one machine I duplicated the steps on two other machines, but I got the
same result.
Any hints as to what's going on? I've used swat extensively, but
perhaps not for a year or two... I was quite surprised to have problems.
