Sad ... it seems I am loosing my good own/old kernel 2.2 ... it took me a long time to configure/read the docs and install/compile the kernel ... I first compiled it on my laptop and now is running on my PC without any problems regarding the hardware ... but as you said I also think that it is best to update my kernel to version 2.4 ... on woody the latest one is 2.4.19 ... I think I am going to try running this one first and update later to the latest sarge-version.
