CPAN failed to install XML::Parser module

I am working on Debian GNU/Linux etch and have installed perl packages 5.8.8with CPAN configured. In the cpan shell, I was to install the module of XML::Parser, but it always failed with many error message returned. I don't know whether if it is the issue of source on the mirror server
