Your time zone is wrong. Run tzconfig (as root) on the misbehaveing host ok set it to Europe/Paris (i am in Strasbourg...) Also, check your logfiles. Xntpd cannot make large adjustments and refuses to i stop/started the daemon, and it reports no failures: Oct 9 11:46:50 yoda xntpd[25663]:
