Dear Debian users, a couple of days ago Gnome 3.18 has been released in unstable. Unfortunately I am unable to update my machine to the new version.
After the failure I downgrade the packages to the testing version and update them one by one to figure out which package doesn't work. The first failure is in gdm3 3.18.0-2 Only a flickering screen at the point gdm would start. In the gdm3.18 file [1] you will find the journalctl log around line 2022 I can see an error: gnome-session[1397]: (gnome-shell:1505): Gdk-WARNING **: gnome-shell: Fatal IO error 11 (Hulpbron is tijdelijk onbeschikbaar) on X server :0. okt 14 14:15:16 Jessica polkitd(authority=local)[646]: Unregistered Authentication Agent for unix-session:1 (system bus name :1.62, object path /org/freedesktop/PolicyKit1/AuthenticationAgent, locale nl_NL.utf8) (disconnected from bus) short after the X server is terminated and restarted over and over again So back to version 3.16 from testing. And tried to update gnome-session, gnome-shell, mutter and nautilus to 3.18. Still no luck. This time gdm does show up, but after logging in the screen remains black/ gray.
