Hi,
I can't get an usb keyboard working in X in debian etch. The x is started from
root user (not great i know). The keyboard works fine in virtual terminals.
I've tried to manually compile the keymap, but the link get deleted on X start.

For most of this I am running X with fvwm. I wonder if this might be a
keymap problem. The fkeys do work when I boot from an XP partition, and they

I've done a fresh install of 2.2.5 and subsequently have keymap
problems. The slash key (/) causes the speaker to beep and doesn't
display a character in a terminal. I've spent the night looking for
documentation and trying different keymaps but I get the same

i'm usen deb potato and set up keymaps with kbdconfig. i selected
de-latin1-nodeadkeys.
during testing all chars were ok, but after reloading with loadkeys i can't
get the typical german keys (ß,ö etc).
what can i do?
