as the music played normally.
I tried to eject the audio cd from the drive using the button on the cd
player program and nothing happened. Ejecting from the commandline gave
the following error:

Laufwerk das System komplett blockieren kann:
eine CD laesst sich nicht unmounten oder Lesefehler beanspruchen nahezu
saemtliche Rechnerressourcen.
Haeufig blieb mir bei solcen Situationen nur noch ein Neustart
retries am scsi- oder ide/atapi-cdrom hab - die
einzige Systemresource die da beansprucht wird ist der syslogd/klogd. ;)
Unter einem anderen (evil) OS aber sehr gut. ;)
Ein unmount _kann_ gar nicht funktionieren, da ja ein Prozess auf die
Resource cdrom zugreift - wenn schon, dann kille den Prozess
von Unregelmaessigkeiten auf Kommandos
(umount...) hoert, anstatt einen harten Reset unausweichlich zu machen ?
Also das von dir beschriebene Problem ist mir unter Linux _komplett_

ich habe mir vor einigen Tagen eine aktuelle Netzinstallation von Debian
Testing geladen. Bei der Installation des Systems scheitere ich immer

avec un tel modem, ça marche très bien. Ça prend la nuit, c'est tout.

I've just gotten an old Aptiva with W95 on it. Even though I set the bios
to booting from cdrom it won't. Am using the Woody mini-iso. Windoz is able
to read the cd so am trying to follow the docs.
Booting from a W95 startup floppy with cdrom support I got as far as
G:\install\boot.bat

the cdrom as installation media.
So my question is, when installation's done how do I incorporate the old
windows D:\ partition into my Debian system? Not dual boot fwiw, just Debian.

Certeza absoluta!
Gravei 3CDs ainda ontem no K3B. E olha que refiz a instalação e certeza
absoluta do kernel 2.4.27. O K3B detecta direitinho o nome da unidade e
velocidade.
Agora no kernel 2.6.11 (via dpkg -i), nem o K3B, nem mesmo o CDROM é
detectado.
Infelizmente o kernel 2.6.8 que é o

com cd de música, o drive funciona blz, mas se tento montar qualquer
outro cd, ele trava e tenho que reiniciar com o hard-reset.

vérifie si tu n'a pas un périphérique sr0 (sg0 ...) ou quelque chose du
genre
si c'est le cas test un mount /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom
si cela fonctionne, tu pourra modifier ton /etc/fstab en conséquence

I searched google when I realized the CD was not a standard audio disk
(did not have Compact Disc digital audio logo). Some
sadece mount /media/cdrom yazmaktan kurtarmak mı?
Ancak umount /media/cdrom yazarsam, CD'yi çıkarabiliyorum.

Dices que en media:/ te aparece el usb y el cdrom cuando lo metes, que lo
pinchas y se montan y se abre mostrando los ficheros. Pues entonces todo
funciona bien!! Debe ser por la configuracin del escritorio
