Hello, I have had a couple of users accidentally shutdown computers, because there is a shutdown button under the log off button on the Systems dropdown menu. I had thought the default for debian was to disable user shutdown (ie. root only), but apparently this is wrong, or has changed. How

User shutdown from xfce4 or gdm

I am using gdm and xfce 4.0 and would like to be able to shutdown as my normal user without giving a password. It seems like this is possible. Xfce4 gives a message when I try to shutdown when I log out that I must install sudo or put the user name in /usr/xfce4/shutdown.allow. Both are set and
