Alternatively, we could recommend that people follow some standard in the subject header. e.g. - Proposals should begin with "Proposal:" (with no "Re:"), and should begin a new thread when it makes sense (see below). - Seconds should begin with "Second:" (or "[sec]") - (if a proposal is withdrawn, the subject should begin with "Withdrawn:") Flames/discussions will end up with a subject beginning with a "Re:" automatically. It may still be a bit hard to keep up with everything in the middle of large threads, but it should be an improvement over the current situation without having to create a new list. > It would make it a lot easier to tell what was an actual proposal and > what was not, what had been seconded and what had not (each proposal > gets its own thread, to which the only responses are seconds). I'm not sure that each proposal should get its own thread. IMHO, a proposal that is presented as an amendment to a previous proposal should be under the same thread as the previous proposal. But it should be a direct reply to the proposal that it amends, and not buried deep within the thread. > I don't know about anybody else, but I have been trying to follow the > various threads on -vote recently, and have been having trouble > keeping up with the various proposals and counterproposals that have > been flying around deep down in some rather large threads.
