The feedback from debian-legal is that, although the code itself is GPL,
the H.264 codec is patent-encumbered.
This means the package does not meet the DFSG and cannot be included in
Debian.

I just built this application from svn for sid on amd64 and it is very
impressive.
It built without protests for KDE 3.5 with GCC 4.0.2. The last release is 0.7
beta1 from 31 Aug 2005; I built from SVN and have had no stability problems.
