Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

PyXPCom allows developpers to Python to write components for/with the Mozilla platform, with more ease than the "native" Mozilla languages provide (i.e. C++ and JavaScript).

PyXPCom might (or might not) help turn Mozilla into a fully open .Net-like platform.

Source: PyXPCom is part of the official Mozilla source tree and can be added with --enable-extensions=python/xpcom. It can also be compiled and distributed separately, although I do not know how.

A patch proposed in [1] might be necessary to get PyXPCom to compile with recent versions of Mozilla and/or Python.

There is already a backported debian package available at [2], linked against mozilla 1.5 and python 2.2 and not source-compatible with more recent versions of mozilla/python.
