I've built a Debian package for Logilab's xmltools. It's called
python-logilab-xmltools (available for python 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3).
You can get it from ftp://ftp.logilab.org/pub/debian/pool
Or with apt, just add the following line to your source-list:
deb ftp://ftp.logilab.org/pub/debian
