I have also made some progress with the package, making it ready for wheezy-style hardening flags by switching to dh9. I have filed a bug report upstream for -fPIE support, which breaks horribly compilation of atheme right now: https://github.com/atheme/atheme/issues/59 I'm still struggling to get +fortify working, as that flag seems to get dropped somewhere in the compile chain.
