RAW photography has increased in popularity due to the quality of images that can be achieved. Many enthusiasts (semi) professional photographers are demanding the best quality in their lifetime images. RAW images offer the possibility to bypass the standard camera settings and help you to explore the potential that your digital camera offers. By using RAW images, you are not just a “happy snapper” that is satisfied with stock finished pictures, but you will enter a whole new world of digital photography with endless creative possibilities to fine tune your images. RAW Images are unprocessed and un-viewable image files that can only be used and viewed with a bitmap graphics editor or converter such as SILKYPIX. A RAW image is made up as RAW data produced by professional cameras. RAW data can be described as the actual original information that your digital camera collects from viewing an object. Basically RAW data is the original information that is received before being processed by the components of your digital camera. Usually, this RAW data is automatically converted to JPEG or TIFF formats (pictures that you could view on a computer) by the digital camera and saved in the memory. If you take a picture and save it as RAW data, you cannot view the image before it is processed. It is first necessary to move the RAW data image onto a computer and then convert it to common image file.
