a surprising number of my Xprint users have reported the same bug, that an
encodings.dir is missing, which stops Xprt from starting. They reported it
against xprint-xprintorg in bugs #189039, #196365, (see for instance,

I do an apt-get upgrade today and still got the xftcache trouble on speedo font.
The work around I used is to replace xftcache by fc-cache in postinst and postrm
script as I read in another bug report that xftcache is obsolete and must be
replaced by fc-cache.
