Hi everybody,
As you might have seen from the messages on debian-devel-changes,
4.3.0.dfsg.1-5 has been accepted into unstable.
As XSF release manager, I have no objections to the TODO list for -6 [0],
but there is one item that we consider

with layout pc105/fr and options altwin:left_meta_win,compose:menu mofiifers
are totally broken : Mod4 for super_l, hyper_l, and meta_l
the alt key has both alt and meta symbols (contradictions), and meta_l has
modifier mod1 AND mod4.
Reverting this patch fixes the problem for me.
However it was a bugfix (which obscured other bugs). The issue is whether
the line-drawing character set should be selected on startup. Normally
applications do this the first time line-drawing is performed. I seem to
recall (unrelated to this

Setting the xkbmap to dvorak fails with error:

though the initial setting of the keyboard at X startup is done

dependencies include xdm and twm and other things that are not really
essential to running X.

it was not limited to KDE, but the same behaviour occurred in GNOME too.
