xserver-xorg-core 2:1.1.1-21 (the one in Etch/stable and in testing)
without downgrading anything else? Do you know what got upgraded during

Please note that the patch attached above is different from the patch
supplied in the original bug report even though the file names are
equal.
The patch from my report can be applied to the current version of
xserver-xorg-video-nv.

r200_span.c "-O2 -fno-strict-aliasing", I still see the non-50%-gray
