I can confirm that the new upstream version 1.1.3 of xf86-input-synaptics
(aka xserver-xorg-input-synaptics) indeed fixes the vertical scrolling

Installed kernel 2.6.31 (package linux-image-2.6.31-trunk-686 from

Same problem; maybe kernel 2.6.31 has the same bug too, or it is indeed
a bug of the X server.
Also, no problem is on my laptop which has another graphics card.

Using the attached xorg.conf the Xserver dies with SIGSEGV.
This breaks xinerama mode, AFAICS. If I comment out the
2 "Screen" lines in the ServerLayout section, then X works,
but with 2 identical screens instead of xinerama mode.
