Upstream is sugesting that a Linus kernel patch is fixing this, I'm going to
try to test this on Debian's 2.6.32 kernel and report back, if anybody else
is willing to test, this is the commit:

I notice you're not running with kernel mode setting. Any particular

following your call for testers of the experimental-version of
xserver-xorg-intel (version 2.12) I installed the version from experimental
and have had positive experiences. KMS works fine, switching from X to a
console on a tty seems to be a little bit faster. I additionally enabled
metacity
