a section Device were not shipped with any package, so I merged all
options in a single file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d with also a Screen

I can confirm this bug. It wasn't appearing too often before, but it
seems like it's happening frustratingly more often ever since I upgraded
to 2.99.917 (running sid)
I can see no tangible error in syslog or xorg.log, maybe except for some
lines that don't seem to be too precise about
