noticed vulkan utils being present for jessie-backports, but no drivers
have support for it yet, any plans on backporting mesa with vulkan
feature ?

Hi,
the Wayland WSI support works now, it can be enabled with the
BUILD_WSI_WAYLAND_SUPPORT CMake option after adding libwayland-dev to
Build-Depends.
