XEmacs 21, latest version from unstable, with gnuplot-mode; turn XEmacs
toolbars off from the options menu, turn balloon-help mode on (M-x
customize-apropos, balloon), but don't turn off the gnuplot toolbar;
leave it at it's default configuration. Open a file and set it to
gnuplot-mode, then write
.

Installing new version of config file /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/fi ...
The problem is that I have not manually modified any of those files.
I've seen this on three computers now, so I know it's not an isolated
problem.

Twice I've had X suddenly exit on me. Both times, iirc, it was when
I pushed the "X" button to close a Mozilla frame via the WM. I don't
know if it's a segv or what; it just suddenly snicks out, then `gdm'
restarts. Once it was this version,
just a ToDo item, not a screaming demand for service.

Did you edit /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers? (irrc that's the file name; I
don't use xdm anymore; I use gdm and a gnome desktop.) You have to
make sure the right X server is being used by XDM.

When `xfs-xtt' got upgraded just now, it stopped the font server.
Now the server is running at 50-70% CPU. I cannot launch any new
programs. When I tried to start a `gnome-terminal' from an XEmacs
shell buffer, it just sat there waiting, and the X server went to
