Tested the new 2.6.33-rc2 kernel - unfortunately no change with my
issue. I guess, I don't have to activate a certain option before
compiling? If yes, it's possible that I don't use the new feature as I
have chosen the actual squeeze-kernel config file as a base.

got the predecessor A20p. It has got the same graphic-chipset from Ati
but the display does not reach the 1600x1200 from the A21p ("only"

I have a working xorg.conf, now, so I post you the log which was created
when starting without any xorg.conf. At least this ends in the garbled
screen I was talking about...
If you are interested in seeing a working xorg.conf for my Thinkpad,
I'll post it on demand! Just tell!
