No, it shouldn't. xbase-clients depends on libglu1-xorg or the virtual packages libglu2 (which is provided by libglu1-xorg), which is correct due to the C++ transition. If the drivers in nvidia-glx support XOrg, then that package needs to be recompiled to support the C++ and XOrg transitions, and filing a wishlist bug to that effect might be useful.
