Hi Folks,
You were absolutely right. I had installed that one to play with KMS,
but 2.6.32.4 solved all the problems...
Hardware was
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV630 [Radeon HD

for anyone needing to know.
Perhaps this is nothing and it just stems from my lack of knowledge, but I
saw that the output of your uname -a command yielded:

x86_64 GNU/Linux
Kernel 2.6.32-trunk was removed from sid a while ago. You should have the
latest
